SUNE
CZAJKOWSKI
FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER
PARIS, FRANCE
Sune Czajkowski, born in Copenhagen, he
grew up between Demark and West-Africa. He is
well-rounded in the art of Photography. Now based
in Paris; many doors has opened with clients: L'uomo
Vogue, Tush, Dansk, Marie Claire Italy, Conde Nast to
name a few.
Exclusively Fashion Magazine:
How did your career as a fashion photographer
begin?
Sune Czajkowski:
I bought my first Canon when I was 13 years
old, and from there it came all by itself. I moved to
Paris 5 years ago, which really have inspired me and
have made me a better photographer.
EFM: Can you tell me a little
about your background before you became a fashion
photographer?
SC:
I grew up between Copenhagen and West Africa, as
my dad was working in West Africa over several
times, for longer periods. I finished my high
school in Africa, and as soon I moved back to
Denmark, I got directly into photography, where I
started my education after a short while. Since then
I have been in photography, and love it every single
day.
EFM: Describe your style as a
photographer?
SC:
My style could be
described as, clean, classic and with a lot of attitude.
EFM:
Do you have a favorite fashion shoot that you were a
part of?
SC:
I love all of them, but my first shoot for
Marie Claire Italy was great. It is a long time ago, but
I still remember the view over Champs Élysées by night
from 10th floor. That was a perfect location.
EFM: What type of camera do you use?
SC:
I mostly use digital cameras, as
Canon and Hasselblad (with Phase One back). I
would prefer using my film/pola cameras, but
that’s not possible because of budgets. I still use them
for all my private projects and expo.

EFM:
Have you assisted any photographers in the
industry before you launched on your own; if so, who?
SC:
Of course I have, some of them are, Karina Taira,
Dominique Issermann & Azim Haidaryan.
EFM:
How important it is to
assist established fashion photographers?
SC:
Yes very important! You get great contacts that way.
EFM: What tips can you give on
taking a great photo?
SC:
Think, and look an extra time in the camera before
pushing the button.
EFM:
What is your typical day?
SC:
There is none like that. Every day is different.
That’s also what I love about my job.
EFM:
What do you look for in an assistant?
SC:
Hard worker, is on time and I can trust
him/her.
EFM:
What would you consider
your most favorite photo-shoot?
SC:
I think it’s always the last one. One of my
latest one is a portrait of Mads Mikkelsen for L’uomo
Vogue.
EFM: What skills do
you think that one has to have in order to become a
fashion photographer?
SC:
Hard worker and loves photography, it’s a life
style, not a job! And you can’t be a quitter.
